Wimpy Rooster

Published by Tom under Raising Chickens

Yesterday I had to do a rescue of one of my roosters. It is a pure Aracana rooster and he is a wimp. One of the other roosters from this year’s batch attacked him and had him pinned under a board in the barn. I had to break the board free to free him. I decided to take him out of the same area as teh new chcikens and put him with last years’ hens. He got beat up by them too.

He is a beautiful rooster but he has no courage. He tried to get back in with this years chickens so I decided to try it and three of the chickens attacked him really bad. I had to take it out again and put back with the hens. He seems healthy and is quite big but I am not sure why they are all picking on him. I had already decided prior to this that he was the one rooster I was keeping to breed with but now I am not sure. I will have to see if he starts to get along with the next couple of weeks. He is 14 weeks old so maybe he will get some courage as he comes into his own.

On the note of roosters, I am hearing another crow from the barn so I will soon be able to confirm at least two roosters plus the one I rescued which is not crowing yet but has a definite rooster tail. I am counting what I think is

Debtfree24.com Review

Published by Tom under Debt, Websites Reviews

The following is a Sponsored Review.

Many Americans are deeply in debt and have no idea how to get out of debt. Credit card bills could wipe out your paycheck in no time flat. It is time to take action and control your debt. That is what Debt Consolidation is met to do. It is not a magic bullet, it a means to and end of your debt. The folks at Debt Free 24 are dedicated to helping people get their debt under control.

Like many Debt Consolidation programs, they attempt to negotiate with your creditors to lower your interest rates and consolidate your payments into one large payment. Once your payments are set into a single payment, you will pay that amount until the debt is paid off. As one loan or credit card is paid off, the additional amount is applied to the next highest interest debt until all are paid off.

Along with the program they offer, Debt Free 24 offers a lot of interesting and informative articles that explain how to reduce debt for good. They will point you to the right course of action for your set situation.

Debt Free 24 seems like any other credit counseling programs. Many of these programs are non profit but as far as I can tell that is not the case with them. This can be good or bad. For profit programs tend to be a little more aggressive in their negotiations with your creditors which equal cheaper interest rates. Many non profit agencies receive funding from the creditors themselves which always seems to me to be a conflict.

The disadvantage of a for profit program like Debt Free 24 is that the fees are often higher than a non profit program. If they get you a much lower interest rate the fee pays for itself. Also the fees are how they make their money so they do not rely on creditors to fund them. That means they work for you.

I like what I see and read on Debt Free 24. Their advice is sound and they offer an easy to contact form for clients to get more information. They seem to offer solid advice and do not state like many that there is a one size fits all fit for all debtors.

If you are in the situation where you need help, I say fill out their easy online form and talk to their representatives. You have nothing to lose from talking to them and they will offer you the best plan for your needs. Make sure you understand fully what you are getting into including the fees, the set payment, and what your interest rates will be before you sign anything.

I have included links for you to check out for yourself, you have nothing to lose by filling out the form and talking to the representatives at Debt Free 24. You could see yourself debt free in three to five years.

Chickens Growing Like Weeds

Published by Tom under Raising Chickens

All this years chickens are growing like crazy. Many are almost full size.

The first batch is thirteen weeks old and the second batch is 10 weeks old. In the picture, you can see my last year hens and in the background you can see this years chickens in the fenced room. As you can see, they are just about the same size.

So far I still only have one rooster crowing and he crows all day long. You can see him sitting higher than the rest on his water container.  He faces the neighbor right next to us and starts at 4 am. They must love us. ;) I think I have about seven roosters all together but one can never be sure until they all start crowing. The Barred Plymouth Rocks are hard to tell because the hens have full combs and are almost as large as the roosters.

The little banties are starting to grow but not very much. They are going to be quite small. They are not as pretty as the large chickens but I am hoping they will grow out to be better looking. I will have to get some pictures for you to see.

Thats all from the chicken coop for now.

Tribute To George Carlin

Published by Tom under General Blog Stuff

The comic legend, George Carlin died yesterday from heart failure. I was a huge fan of his comedy. He was raunchy but unlike many newer comedians, he was funny with his raunchy humor. I remember watching him do his stand up comedy routine and laughing so hard my sides hurt.

He was only 71 but he had suffered from heart related problems for years.

I for one will miss him and I think the world of comedy lost a huge member.

Good Bye George, thanks for all the laughs the raunchy jokes, and the memories you left. I still years after seeing him in his stand up routine find myself quoting one of his jokes. He was a true legend and will be remembered by many as one of the last old time funny comedians.

Free Car Ads

Published by Tom under Websites Reviews

I am looking to buy a used car and I was scanning the local paper for a deal and could not find one. I decided check out the Internet to see what I could find.

I want to find a Honda in my price range and nearby so I can go pick it up. I ran across a site called Stumble Here which is an ad site that allows you to Post Free Local Classified Ads No relationship to Stumble Upon. This site allows you to list your ads for free and there are no fees for buyers or sellers. I always find that I can find better bargains from these ads because the seller does not tack ad fees into the price.

I searched through many of the Cars that were listed there to see what I could find at a price I could afford. I found quite a few Honda’s that were in a close range from my house. I will be checking those out later to see if they are what I am looking for.

I wanted to share links to this site because it is one of the few free ad sites that I really liked. It is easy to use and they even offer tips and ideas on why people run ads. Check them out and if you find something interesting, please feel free to share by leaving me a comment.

Dealing With Red Tape

Published by Tom under Homestead, Ramblings

I posted a few days ago about the storm we had last week and how it did damage to the house. Now I am in the process of dealing with contractors and the insurance company. As if the storm was not bad enough, now I am having a hard time getting the insurance company to handle things.

They sent an adjuster last week and he wrote an estimate for the damage and now I am waiting for any payment so I can get the work done. I already spent $2100 out of pocket to pay for what needed to be done right away. I have to have the roof repaired and got two estimates and both are over $1000 higher than the adjuster estimated. I emailed both the insurance company and the adjuster. The insurance company wrote back that I need to contact the adjuster directly. The problem is that he does not reply to email and he does not return voice messages.

Anybody have any advice in this matter?

Tiger Woods Bites The Dust

Published by Tom under Sports

It is quite sad news that golf legend Tiger Woods will be out for the seasons. It is reported that he suffers from a knee injury and will not play for the rest of the season due to additional surgery needed.

Though I am not a huge golf fan, I have followed much of Tiger Woods’ career and I share the sadness that many fans share.

I would like to take the time to congratulate him on his U.S Open win on Monday and I wish him good luck in a speedy recovery. I am sure he will be missed by the golfing world.

Bad Credit Loans

Published by Tom under Money Related

So I came across this site that offers loans for people with bad credit. There are literally hundreds and thousands of websites that offer such services but the difference between Credit and Mortgage Index and other sites is that not only it provides you the ability to apply online for a loan but it also has a large number of different financial articles and financial tools that will help you make informed decisions. There are a number of different types of loans that you can apply for using creditandmortgageindex.com.

You can get your car financed or apply for the best credit card offer online and you can also find how to apply for a personal loan after bankruptcy. One of the best offers on Credit and Mortgage Index is the ability to apply for an emergency loan. Basically, if you are running short on cash and if you need to get some cash with in 24-48 hours without worrying about your credit report, you can do that by applying for a cash advance loan that requires no credit check. This saves you a lot of time and helps you get cash in emergency situations. If you are in a credit crunch or if you are looking for some quick cash to deal with any unforeseen financial emergency, Credit and Mortgage Index can be very helpful.

Raising Your Own Food

Published by Tom under Homestead

There is always food scares in the news. The latest was tomatoes. The problem is that our Government is trying to regulate small farmers while allowing the big companies to pass on tainted food to the consumer.

This is why many people are returning to the old ways and raising their own food. The advantages are that you know what is going the ground or what you are feeding your animals. Growing a garden is no longer just about saving money. It is now a matter of health.

I started raising chickens last year but I am thing of expanding into raising a pig and a cow. Of course, our wonderful Government is trying to regulate us small hobby farmers to protect the national food system. We are not the problem, it is the large feed lots and large food suppliers who are causing the unsafe food supply. I know my chickens are safe and the eggs I get are very healthy and safe.

If you are in a situation where you can not raise your own food, buy local from farmers who care about their farms and are not just trying to make the quick buck.
