Trying to lose weight and obtain a flat stomach is no easy task. It is even harder to get six pack abs. However, every year people spend millions of dollars on the newest diet secret, miracle pill, or fad exercise equipment. Honestly, I am no exception.
I have watched and Dr. Oz have claimed the great benefit of Raspberry Ketones or Green Coffee Extract as the miracle fat burners. Without exercise or changing diet these little pills will burn and shrink fat. I tried them and I call BULLSHIT! My wife and i have both tried them and they did nothing to change our weight loss. They did lighten my wallet a lot but nothing more than a little water weight otherwise.
Next you see these diet books that have shown amazing results with ten minutes a day. What about the ones that say you can eat anything you want and lose weight. Funny thing is, they all have disclaimers stating results not typical or taken along with a balanced diet and exercise. DUH!
True weight loss and fat burning is done one of two ways. First through exercise and second through diet. No matter what you take, you can not eat more than you burn in calories and lose weight. Some freaks of nature with super metabolic systems can defy this but most of us are not so lucky. You have to have a calorie deficit in order to loss weight!
I have went from 210 pounds to 175 pounds in about eight months. In the process, I have increased my muscle mass and went from 29% body fat to less than 22%. How did I do it? I exercised by walking, jogging or weight lifting at least six days a week. I ate healthy and counted calories. Over the holidays, I slowed my exercise and ate what I wanted and gained four pounds back. I have since started counting calories and returned to more regular exercise and lost almost three of the pounds. See the correlation?
You can not lose weight without controlling your calories. No legal magic pill works! Set a reasonable goal and work towards it. The more clean your diet, the easier it will be to achieve. I like sweet iced tea and I like sweets in general. I love pizza and wings and many other kinds of those foods. For me or anyone to achieve a hefty goal, those foods need to eliminated. I am not yet ready to totally eliminate those so I am struggling to reach my final goal. I am currently healthy and feel good but would like a totally flat stomach. It boils down to what I am willing to do to get there.

Being healthy is always important. What you put in your body has a dramatic affect on how healthy you are. This is not part of my normal types of post in regards to health but as you read you will see that I am hoping it will at least affect the surrounding people.
First thing I want to make clear is that I do not like smoking. I find it gross and a mess. The second hand smoke is disgusting to everyone around the smoker. With that said, I believe in freedom and everyone’s right to do their own thing. I was doing a little research for a project I was working on and found this cool Electronic Cigarette by Blucigs.com. When we talk about health, we think of weight, heart, skin, lungs, and other vital organs. What we fail to think about is our eyes. These are so important to overall health but seldom do we think about taking care of them. Eye injuries occur because we fail to protect our eyes.
There are many ways to improve your eyesight and protect your eyes from harm. If you spend a lot of time outdoors, be sure to wear sunglasses. I am not talking about the cheap dollar store kind. I am still plugging away at my weight loss. Walking has now become my favorite form of exercise and I try to do at least five miles a day at least five days a week. I am still using my FitBit and tracking my calories in and out and how many steps I do each day. I am trying to burn 3000 calories and eating 2000 calories a day. This should give me an average loss of two pounds of fat a week. So you are wondering, how well am I doing?
I have loss 33.5 five pounds since the beginning of January. It may be a little more but I did not weigh the first day I started. That is about 18 weeks which comes out to 1.86 pounds a weeks. This is a good safe weight loss and I am feeling good.
Here are the goods and not so goods. I was eating extremely clean when I first started. This is not easy and I have started to slip a little. I am not sure it is possible for me to always eat clean but I try to eat great as much as possible. I do eat pizza but only if I fit in my calories. I do eat McDonald’s once in a while but I eat a happy meal which now included a reduced size fry and apples. I do drink my sweet teas but I use a higher reduced mix of sweet to unsweetened tea. These do not seem to affect me as much as when I use to eat all crap. It makes it easier to keep up with a reduce eating plan without getting bored.
Reality is, most of us are fat due to the fact that we eat bad. It was easy short term to shut off all the bad. If I stayed that clean, I would have fell off the wagon. Instead, I eat good most of the time, I eat a really bad cheat meal once a week, and I eat smaller portions of things I want as long as they are with in my calorie range and I eat good the rest of the day. This has kept me and my wife on our eating plan. This combined with exercise has allowed Karen and I both to lose over 30 pounds and we are still losing each week.
