New Year Greetings

Published by Tom under Family, General Blog Stuff

All in 2008 seemed bleak. The economic crisis that faced the world was painful to watch but I muddled through. The Presidential race did not turn out very well and it was politics as usual among promises of change. There were wars and rumors of wars. Many lost their jobs as we taxpayers bailed out the rich. McCain, Obama, Clinton, and Bush all approved of the monetary rape that we took. Looking for a job had little success and the stock market crashed like nothing we have seen.

I clung to my marriage and tightened my belt. I fought harder to clear up all of my debt. I listened to Dave Ramsey to inspire me most. It was a struggle and so many lost. However, as Americans we suffered though the loss. We brushed off the dirt that our Government threw on us and we swore it would get better and for many it got worse. It was a bit of a pickle but we will survive.

With all the bleak we suffered in 2008, we know that we have much to be thankful for. I want to take this chance to wish all of my friends a wonderful healthy and prosperous New Year!

Help the Salvation Army

Published by Tom under General Blog Stuff

Some of you may have noticed that there is a new feature on top of the blog. It is a Red Kettle. The Salvation Army is hurting in these bad times when those in need really need the help. Maybe it is just a small thing but I am hoping my small Kettle will inspire all of you to donate to help others in need.

When I was a child, we had a time when we needed shelter and being from a family of eleven kids, that is no easy task. The Salvation Army was there for my family and I try to give back whenever I can.

I encourage all of you to help where you can. A drop of a few coins in your local kettle or you can donate directly by clicking on the Kettle above. It will take you directly to the secure Salvation Army website and you can donate as much  as little as you can afford.or

There are tons of families hurting in these hard economic times and this a way for all us to give a helping hand up through one of the best organizations in the world.

Thanks for all those who help either here or anywhere you see that big Red Kettle.

Merry Christmas to all of you!

Ringtone Fever

Published by Tom under Shopping

Everywhere you go, you know that the holiday season has hit us. No, I am not talking about the decorations; I am talking about the ringtones going off everywhere. From Jingle bells to Santa Claus is Coming to Town, holiday music is loaded on almost everyone’s mobile phone. Now days, there are thousands of ringtones that can be downloaded and put directly on to your phone.

It does not matter who your cell phone provider is. From ATT to T-mobile ringtones, you can find them on the Internet. I have yet to search for my favorite song and not find it. I love Johnny Cash and currently have “I walk the Line.” However, I change my ringtone often to keep life interesting.

Ringtones are one of those things that show how interesting technology is getting. I still remember when cell phones first came out and it was bird chirps that were the most interesting you could get. Now you can find the most popular sounds and music with a touch of the mouse.

I am curious about all my readers. What is the most interesting ringtone that you have ever heard? What do you have as a ringtone on your cell phone? Leave a comment and let me know!

Vaction Home Market

Published by Tom under Real Estate

The downturn of the economy is not all bad news if you are looking for a good bargain. Many people spend this time of the year looking at a nice get away for the family. It is a great time to look into vacation rental properties.

If you have the spare money for that big vacation, there are many people looking to offer a good deal on that perfect rental. In fact there are many vacation homes that are being put up as properties for sale by owner. They are taking matters in there own hands and selling the properties themselves and that means an extra good deal for those looking to buy or rent right now.

Now if you can not afford it, I am not saying to rush out buy something. However, if you have the money and are prepared financially to pay for a vacation, there is no better time than now to go for it. In the past, economic factors have only hit one or two countries. With this recession, the whole world is in a bind and those who can afford it can find dream properties in many exotic locations.

I recommend if you are in the market that you look around and find just what you want and decide what part of the world you want to vacation in. Once you have decided, make the contact and start to negotiate the best deal. I have seen vacation rentals and sales much lower than I have ever seen. It is a buyers market so be sure to follow your dream if you have the money to do so.

Caspian Oil Trading

Published by Tom under Politics, Services, economy

Worldwide Oil production is not on the decline as many people have been lead to believe. In fact there are many areas throughout the world that have a thriving Oil production business. One of those areas is located in the Caspian Sea and Black Sea area.

Caspian oil trading is beginning to emerge as one of the biggest markets for the oil trading. These suppliers are many of the countries that were formerly part of the Soviet Union including the country of Russia.

Caspian oil logistics is a delicate process because it involves major cargo ships and transporting through many regions of the world including volatile parts of the Middle East. However, it is well worth the diplomacy in order to increase the world supply and help lower the cost of oil for all of us.

Though we often only hear of the major suppliers of the Middle East, the Caspian Area provides a large bit of oil to help balance the world demand for oil. This is just one of many examples of thriving oil providers throughout the world.

Do not believe everything you hear when you listen to the news. Because prices go up and down, it is not always a case of supply and demand. The supply is there and as you have seen, the price of oil has went back down to finally reflect that.
